About the event

Here's a glimpse into what awaits you:

Day 1:

*Dive into the fundamentals as we delve into the art of flower conditioning, care, and storage. This will explain how to get the very best out of your flowers, to keep them fresher and looking good for longer. I will also explain how to get flowers to bloom and how to slow them down. Very important to avoid wastage.

*Where you can purchase your flowers, quantities, tax and things to look out for. How you qualify for the wholesalers.

*Discover the secrets behind crafting perfectly balanced bouquets, we will look at colour, contents and composition.

*After a demo and a practice, you will create a beautiful bouquet using the spiral technique, using amazing fresh blooms and foliage, and finished with an exquisite raw-edged ribbon finish.

* Demo into making a flower crown in a seamless base, this is a technique I have created myself.

*You will then create a flower crown using fresh and dried flowers, I will share with you the best flowers to use for maximum longevity. The crown will be finished with ribbon.

* I will share with you how to dry and preserve blooms; (Three different techniques) this is becoming a much sought after service for brides’ bouquets and other sentimental flowers.

Day 2:

*Introduction into flower photography, this is a must if you want to showcase your work, be it on social media or to potential clients, it really is an art in itself.  You will learn the importance of composition, negative space, rule of thirds, exposure, depth of field and much more.

*Using my collection of quirky props, you will then take your own photos using your phone or DSLR.

*Editing process, I will share with you how I edit my photos and what free software is out there for you to use.

* After a demonstration you will create a sustainable heart shaped wreath, this can be used as a wreath in its own right or it is also suitable for green funerals, which are becoming more and more popular as people are becoming more environmentally friendly.

*Finally, you will learn how to create a buttonhole, how to keep it balanced, how to keep it fresh and how to present it to your customer. (Something that is often overlooked)

Lunch isn't provided, however there are lots of lovely places to eat on the doorstep. There will be lots of cuppas and home-made cake, to keep you going in between.
