About the event
The 23rd September is Autumn Equinox, sometimes called Harvest Day or Mabon so to celebrate it I am holding a class making traditional English crafts using wheat.
🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾
We will make a free-standing wheat stook (slightly bigger than this image) and a simple corn dolly.
🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾
In years gone by men, women and children would harvest the wheat well into the night guided by the light of the harvest moon.
The sheaves of wheat were gathered into stooks.
🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾
We will be making our own decorative stook.
I will show you an easy way to achieve the twist you need to get it to stand up.
Finished off with decorative ribbon or twine.
Corn dolls have been around for years and years and they were made out of the last sheaths of the harvest. The dolls were then kept until the following year to ensure another good crop.
🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾
We will make a simple corn dolly which you can finished off with ribbon or twine.
All materials will be provided (all I ask is for you to bring a pair of secateur’s, gloves are optional).
Refreshments will be served.

Please note tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you can transfer to a future date.

This workshop has a minimum number of participants required, if this is not reached we will of course reimburse you in this instance.
